They knew that this was not going to be a band of many gigs in the St Louis area.  They mainly just wanted to play the music they loved.  Now, they have decided to get out there and let you hear what you have all been missing.  And they're looking to put jazz back on the map in St. Louis. The Ty Perry Project plays a variety of mostly cover songs ranging from the early 70’s to present day Jazz and Jazz Fusion.  They play a variety of music from the likes of Chic Corea, The Brecker Brothers, Dave Weckl, Weather Report, Return to Forever, Simon Phillips and Protocol, David Garfield, Steps Ahead, Yellow Jackets, Mike Stern and David Sanborn... just to name a few.

Thanks to everyone who attended our recent concert at Evangeline's Bistro and Music House.  Had a great turnout and was an excellent evening of Jazz Fusion. We will keep you posted on any future concerts.  Thank you for your patronage!

The Ty Perry Project was initially created as a result of some very talented musicians who just wanted to play the music that has for so many years influenced their lives and playing, namely Jazz Fusion.  Jazz Fusion is influenced by a variety of styles and music genres such as R’n’B, rock / progressive rock, funk, soul, blues, and gospel just to name a few.  Along with so many styles and traditions from around the world, all have been combined with a strong jazz influence to create this "Fusion" flavor to jazz.  Truly never boring, and certainly not by any means elevator music, Jazz Fusion demands your attention.  For this style of music is intricate, ever changing and demands precision.  This is what sets this group of gentlemen ahead of the rest.  It’s the old cliche; “this was as if this was meant to be.”  And it is!  Pretty much a chance happening of musicians striving to hone and perfect the same musical experience.  Where have they been, you might ask?  Pretty much in their own studio; although they have made many well accepted appearances in the greater St. Louis  area.

The Ty Perry Project initially started in early 2006, evolved, and has grown their repertoire and direction over the years; constantly challenging themselves.  Being in the St. Louis area, Jazz Fusion is not a well noted or played music genre'.   Sure you can dance to many a song, but again, this is music for the soul.  It’s designed to be listened to, contemplated, intrigued by, and just namely, enjoyed.
